These chairs are very maneuverable and can take a hit or two. Rugby players must be able to push their own wheelchairs. Goalball is a fun and exciting game developed for individuals that are blind or have low vision. Goalball is a Paralympic Sport and can be played at a competitive level. It can be played for fitness, fun and competition.
The game is played on a Volley Ball Size hard wood court. The court is defined by pieces of string that is taped to the floor so the players can feel where they are on the court. The ball must be rolled on the floor and three players on each side try to block a ball with bells in it from getting past them across the goal line. All players wear blacked out goggles to keep the game eventful for all, this way, individuals with normal vision can find the game challenging. Contact Steve Hornsey at 916-808-2340 or shornsey@cityofsacramento.org for more information.

Power Soccer is the first competitive team sport designed and developed specifically for power wheelchair users. These participants include persons with quadriplegia, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, head trauma, stroke, spinal cord injury and other disabilities. Power Soccer combines the skill of the wheelchair user with the speed and power of the chair itself, to participate in an extremely challenging game similar to soccer. The game is played in a gymnasium on a regulation basketball court. Two teams of four power chair users attack, defend, and spin-kick a 13-inch soccer ball in an attempt to score goals. Power Soccer is a very active and growing sport, both nationally and internationally.
On this website, you will find more information about Power Soccer, USPSA, organizational initiatives, and Power Soccer Teams. You will also find photos, videos, important downloads, and more! Individual team homepages, tournament information, game scores and other statistics are available on our other website at: http://www.USPSATeams.org. |
